On Saturday, December 5, 2019, Detroit Community Schools (DCS) proudly hosted Detroit City Councilman James Tate’s Holiday event. To open the program, under the direction of DCS Music Teacher Mr. Name, DCS’ drumline superbly entertained the guests. Then, DCS 10th grade student, Name, perform a beautiful acapaella solo. Detroit Community Schools is extremely proud of all the students the represented the District at the event.
Councilman Tate also asked Superintendent Nancy Berkompas to provide information about DCS and the educational opportunities it offers students. Then, several elected officials made brief remarks including Mayor Mike Duggan, U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Michigan State Senator Sylvia Santana, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell and Wayne County Commissioner Monique Baker McCormick.
More than 150 residents, community leaders and elected officials enjoyed a pot luck dinner and musical entertainment, during their meal. Detroit Community Schools was honored to host the Holiday Event for Detroit City Councilman James Tate as well as showcase the District to the community!
